Chasing the Wind |
Chasing the
WindThis is Hal Roth's long-awaited record of his participation in the 1990-1991 BOC Challenge round-the-world singlehanded race. Chasing the Wind is a highly personal account -- mostly in log form -- of one of the most grueling ocean races in which the author suffered more than his share of trials. Of the 25 entrants at the start, only 18 finished the circumnavigation; the author completed the 27,500 mile race in 211 days after overcoming a series of terrible problems, most of them having too with gear failure. Roth narrowly survived a capsize which required emergency repairs in Australia.
Hal Roth is one of America's best known sailing writers. He enjoys a large following around the world. Best known for his cruising book After 50,000 Miles, he has written eight books on sailing, including Chasing the Long Rainbow, which chronicles the 1986-87 BOC Challenge.
