The Loneliest Race |
The Loneliest
RaceThe Loneliest Race is the story of the men and one woman who took part in the longest and loneliest round the world yacht racc the 1994-95 BOC Challenge. Twenty-six competitors prepared for the race, but only 20 crossed the start line in Charleston, South Carolina. By the time the fleet reached the halfway mark in the southern hemisphere, only 14 were left in the race. One yacht sank in the Atlantic and two were dismasted in the Southern Ocean. Others suffered leaks, hull damage, broken booms, and smashed rudders. One, amazingly, survived after running aground on a beach and still continued in the race.
This is an extraordinary story of courage and endurance by a group of unique individuals only too aware that in the BOC Challenge simply to finish is to be a winner. This 'instant' book will be published just after the end of the race.
