Multihull Voyaging |
Multihull Voyaging This book is a guide to short- and long-distance voyaging in catamarans and trimarans. The author covers a wide range of multihulls for cruising, from the smallest and simplest to the popular mid-sized boats of 30-35 feet. Multihulls are very different from monohulls because they sail faster but they tolerate less weight. Accordingly, they must be equipped and provisioned differently, and they must be sailed differently. Starting with an outline of the multihull development and how they differ from monohulls, the author proceeds to explain all their important elements of speed comfort and economy, sails and rigging, power etc. The second part deals with the aspects of voyaging -- prepartation and provisioning, fair and foul weather sailing, docks and anchoring, engines etc.
Tom Jones is a professional boatbuilder, designer and writer. Multihull Voyaging is fully illustrated with photographs and line drawings, including some the author's own designs.
