Frank Mulville has sailed Iskra through countless hazards on his voyages around the
globe, but none were more dangerous than this. While off the Scottish coast, an easterly
gale tore Iskra from her mooring and cast her on a rocky shore where she was badly damaged
and holed below the waterline. Frank's account of the disaster and their last-minute
rescue by helicopter makes exciting reading; equally gripping is the story of Iskra's
salvage and rebuilding. It required finding unseasoned oak, chainsaws of a size to work it
and shipwrights had to be brought in from Iskra's home port in Essex. Finally Iskra sailed
off as good as new--only to be struck by lightning and dismasted on the way home.
