Minn Kota® Introduces Trim-N-Troll™: An Integrated Trolling Motor/Trim Tab System

RACINE, Wis. (July 2007) – Following the introduction of its Trim Tab product line last year, Minn Kota®  is now offering the Trim-N-Troll™ electric propulsion system.  Trim-N-Troll (compatible only with Minn Kota Trim Tabs) offers anglers superior boat control and improved on-the-water mobility.

“The Trim-N-Troll system is ideal for big water fishing, whether it’s freshwater or saltwater,” Minn Kota Senior Product Manager Dave Maryanov said.  “This integrated trolling/trim system controls the boat from the stern, leaving the bow clear for fishing.  Also, with the exclusive auto up and auto down feature on the Minn Kota Trim Tab Position Indicator Switch, the angler can stop trolling and be ready for hole-shot with the push of a button.  It also offers improved control and line-of-sight in hole-shot and throttle back situations.”

Trim-N-Troll consists of a pair of trolling motor lower units that are mounted directly onto a pair of Minn Kota Trim Tabs.  It is offered as a 24- or 36-volt system.  All Trim-N-Troll electronics are completely sealed and saltwater compatible.  All Minn Kota Trim Tabs are made with an exclusive hydrofoil design to maximize lift.  They are constructed of durable, high-strength composite which resists rust and corrosion.

On a 24-volt system, Trim-N-Troll uses two 80-lb thrust trolling motors for a total of 160 pounds of thrust.  A 36-volt system utilizes two 101-lb thrust trolling motors for a total of 202 pounds of thrust.  The patented mounting design provides improved performance and reliability, and includes specially designed long-stroke actuators that allow for additional extension needed to lower the tabs into trolling range.  When stowed, the tabs and motors are completely above the waterline so they do not adversely affect hull performance.  All Minn Kota actuators are IP68 rated, which is the highest possible rating for waterproofing.

Precise boat position is controlled by adjusting the prop direction and speed on each trolling motor using a wireless remote control steering system.
 
Remote functions include:
– Steer right/left
– Speed up/down
– Exclusive auto center function that synchronizes the trolling motors to “straight-ahead” or “straight  back” (depending on what position you were in prior to starting the turn) after executing a steering maneuver
– Trim button that lowers the motors into trolling range, and allows you to adjust up and down within the trolling range
– Forward/reverse
– Prop on/off

The Trim-N-Troll tabs are controlled by Minn Kota’s exclusive Position Indicator Switch that displays the position of each tab on LEDs and includes an auto up/down feature.  One push of either the auto up or auto down buttons will simultaneously raise or lower both tabs to their fully retracted or extended position.  The Position Indicator Switch features a sealed, soft-touch faceplate and waterproof connections.

Minn Kota’s Trim-N-Troll can be purchased as a complete kit or a conversion kit for existing Minn Kota Trim Tab systems.  The complete kit includes Trim Tabs, long-stroke actuators, Position Indicator Switch, mounting brackets and motors.  The conversion kit includes long-stroke actuators, mounting brackets and motors (a Minn Kota Position Indicator Switch is required to operate Trim-N-Troll and can be purchased separately).
